How to Transition Your Pet to Eco Food

Switching your pet to eco-friendly food is one of the most impactful changes you can make for the environment. But it needs to be done gradually to avoid digestive upset. Here's our proven 7-day transition method.

Why Switch to Eco Food?

Traditional pet food production has a significant environmental footprint. From meat sourcing to packaging, there are opportunities for improvement at every step. Eco-friendly pet foods address these issues through:

  • Sustainable protein sources (insect protein, plant-based options)
  • Responsibly sourced ingredients
  • Compostable or recyclable packaging
  • Lower carbon footprint manufacturing

The 7-Day Transition Method

Never switch food abruptly - this can cause digestive issues. Instead, follow this gradual approach:

Days 1-2: 25% New Food

Mix 25% of the new eco food with 75% of their current food. Monitor for any signs of digestive upset.

Days 3-4: 50% New Food

Increase to a 50/50 mix. By now, your pet should be adjusting to the new flavors and ingredients.

Days 5-6: 75% New Food

Your pet is almost there! The mix is now 75% new food and 25% old food.

Day 7: 100% New Food

Complete the transition to 100% eco-friendly food. Congratulations!

Signs of Successful Transition

  • Normal energy levels
  • Healthy coat and skin
  • Regular, well-formed stools
  • Eager appetite at mealtimes

When to Slow Down

If you notice loose stools, vomiting, or decreased appetite, slow down the transition. Go back to the previous ratio for a few days before continuing.
